Overview of UMCGC 2019

Key Discussions and Decisions

The Way Forward

One of the major highlights of the UMCGC 2019 was the discussion surrounding "The Way Forward," which focused on finding a resolution to the ongoing debates regarding human sexuality and the inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals within the Church. Delegates engaged in respectful conversations, considering different perspectives and theological interpretations.

After much deliberation, the Traditional Plan was ultimately adopted as the preferred approach. This plan reaffirms the United Methodist Church's position that "the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching." However, it also emphasizes the importance of providing pastoral care and support to LGBTQ+ individuals within the church community.

Task Forces and Future Planning

Alongside the discussions on human sexuality, the UMCGC 2019 focused on task forces and future planning to enhance the overall mission and effectiveness of the United Methodist Church. Several task forces were formed to address key areas such as leadership development, evangelism, social justice, and global ministries.

Implementation of the Traditional Plan
